It was not packed house at the in-person monthly meeting over at St Paul’s in Livonia, the regular (now newly regular again) meeting of Solar Outdoor Club, and its annual Photo Contest.
The thing I love about the contest is seeing what other members have done in the past year, filling out the five categories also gives a glimpse at what folks think of as “Humor” as well what they would call “Adventures in Quarantine”. The other three headings were “Solar Friends”, “Landscape” and “Wildlife” and those gave inspiration as well.
We had a brief meeting of club “business”, talking about activities, skills sharing trips after a bit of socializing for the folks that got there early, then it was to the serious business of voting. The skill and subject matter that were presented dampened my hope to win or even to garner some bragging rights, I had better luck with the images I didn’t submit for the contest. Several folks brought extras and we had a shared table where we got to tell tales of high adventure and picture background, all the images ranged from far and wide as well as close to home, members really did have adventures and are adventurous and it shows.
Thanks to all who were proud or brave enough to join the contest, five winners went home with REI gift cards to add to the satisfaction of a job well done. I have to admit that not traveling or having cute relatives put me at a disadvantage, I will have to try again next year….
